Ailish is an Australian artist born in Country Victoria and currently based on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. With a background in Visual Arts and Indonesian Language education, her practice brings together teaching, making, and a deep connection to place.

Working primarily with clay and collage, Ailish explores the relationship between natural forms and the domestic environment. Her ceramic work uses traditional hand-building techniques, including coil and slab construction. Each piece is shaped by hand, where subtle imperfections reveal the traces of its making, blurring the line between functional object and sculptural form.

Alongside ceramics, collage plays an equally important role in Ailish’s practice. For her, collage is as much about process as outcome, an intuitive act of sourcing, deconstructing, and reassembling imagery. Destructive construction. This process allows her to build fictional universes from already existing images.
